Project: Piggyback
Piggyback is a parasitic-like structure that can attach to the side of buildings to provide an alternative solution to the lack of quality and affordable student accommodation within Wellington. In the past five years, the average rent price has increased while the quality of living for students has decreased. Poor insulation, lack of sunlight and a damp atmosphere are common issues in many students flats today.
This spatial design showcases how the combination of parasitic and minimalistic living takes advantage of unused spaces in the city, offers a solution to lack of viable flats, presents affordable living with quality atmosphere. The design features a 10 square metre unit suitable for 1 person or a couple where living space, storage and services are intertwined and compressed to optimise a minimum volume and spatial envelope.

Project Ascend
Project Ascend is a dwelling design for families who are visiting the city for a weekend or in need of holiday accommodation. The aim of this project is to provide a living space for people to be free from tension and anxiety which has built up from work. This aim was influenced by my experience of growing up in Hong Kong, many people are stressed from their everyday life as the city is very busy and it’s lifestyle is normal for the residents of Hong Kong. When stress becomes long-term and is not properly addressed, it can lead to a number of serious health conditions, including: Depression, high blood pressure, heartburn, ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome, upset stomach, weight gain or loss and skin problem such as eczema. By having a dwelling up on Mount Victoria, it allows people to rest their mind and escape from the city, get some fresh air and spend time with their family. This provides a much better family activity in contrast to everyone sitting in front of their tablets or computers.
To achieve the goal I have set, my location on Mount Victoria has to face to the sea and be surround by trees. Being around nature helps with stress relief and promotes motivation. For the interior of the house, I would like to have some climbing walls to encourage people to be more active in their house than usual, this will help strengthen various muscle groups that we do not use much in our daily life. For lighting I would like to use as much natural sun light as possible to provide a bright positive atmosphere. Here are some inspiration ideas that might relate to my design

The Share Box Project
The Share Box Project is based on Janet’s artwork, Top 16 at Te Papa museum (2018) which inspired me to have my design based around the use of new technology in combination with social media platforms in the current day. I feel like Janet’s artwork did a great job at displaying a static time shot of that era of social media, and this inspired me to take the challenge of making a dynamic feature based around a similar topic. The dynamic design of my artwork will mean the collage of photos will update in parallel to the current online trends.
Brezel Bakery Design
Brezel is a bakery design for 176 Victoria street. This bakery sells pretzels that are packed in gift box's. In my design, there is an open kitchen that shows the process of making a pretzel. This is to show that pretzels could be a piece of art work as well as just a piece of food. The finished product will get hung on the wall like a bakery / gallery. By using oak wood, It gave the bakery a warm atmosphere when accompanied with the warm white lights.

Transition Beverage Cafe
Transition is a beverage cafe which is intended to bring individuals together by common interior int the community and drink choice. This design is influenced by the link between these communities and emulating this link with statement wire framing around the exterior and interior of the building. The building is a collaboration of Edwardian architecture and contemporary design, with a striking feature wall which explodes through the east side wall.
